Some thoughts on Mother's Day...

Tomorrow is my fifty-second Mother's Day. I have made cards, bought cards, picked flowers, purchased flowers, shopped on-line, and in stores, bought large and  small gifts, always received smiles and thanks! But.... it just doesn't feel like I've got it right.  It is a day that we all celebrate, but rarely contemplate what we are really celebrating. That is changing as I grow older...

I know that I am a very lucky guy...I have a wonderful woman who has been my wife of twenty-six years. She is also an incredible Mom! I celebrate her in a…

Do Great Deeds

Those of you who have known me for a time, have often heard me offer this parting admonition...go forth, do great deeds, slay dragons! This instruction is usually met with a smile, a wry chuckle or sometimes a puzzled look.

To some it may be taken as humor, or a corny way to say good bye, but I offer it sincerely, and with a purpose. I have been told many times that if you…

Putting People First

It's a great slogan, but can you live up to the ideal of putting people first in your business dealings? In tough economic times it is always difficult to take your eyes off the cost of doing business.

Repairing things...

Whether we like it or not...ready or not...things break! I went to the doctors office recently, and was faced with an unpleasant fact. The knee installed by my manufacturer had worn out and needed repair. I couldn't put it off, it needed to be done. Fortunately I have a great medical technician who is board certified and completely trustworthy! I had the repair performed, it went absolutely without a problem or complaint.

While healing, I had time to think about comparisons between our service department and the surgeon who performed my repair. We both had excellent facilities…

Washington's Birthday

Things change...that's just the way it is...in this case, I believe it is for the better! Twenty, or thirty years ago, the President's Day, automotive sales, were filled with gimmicks, cherry pies, and sales practices that weren't always consumer friendly. High pressure negotiations, and uncomfortable environments, were common.
