Coming standard with all-wheel drive and four-wheel anti-lock brakes to get through the thick of it, responsive independent front and rear suspensions to keep things stable for the duration, and Cruise Control for commanding the highway, each model shows its prowess. At Belknap Subaru, we are excited to bring you the latest new Subaru crossover models. These Subaru models are ideal for both off-roading adventures and everyday driving. Here is what you need to know about the selection of new Subaru crossovers at our dealership.

Subaru Outback

The Outback combines the comfort and easy driving experience of a station wagon with the rugged versatility of an off-roading SUV. The Outback comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. An available turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. All Outback models come standard with a CVT and all-wheel drive. Dual seven-inch touchscreens are standard, while a single 11.6-inch touchscreen is available. The off-roading-optimized Wilderness trim includes a front skid plate, an upgraded roof rack that can hold up to 700 pounds while parked, a lifted suspension, improved all-wheel drive, and all-terrain tires.

Subaru Forester

The Forester offers much of the versatility and many of the features you love from the Outback with a slightly more compact frame. The Forester comes standard with 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a CVT and all-wheel drive. A 6.5-inch infotainment system is standard, while an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen is available. Six speakers are standard, while a nine-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system is available. Like the Outback, the Forester has a Wilderness trim that is optimized for off-roading. Then Forster Wilderness includes improved ground clearance, a front skid plate, and a maximum towing capacity of 3,000 pounds (compared to 1,500 pounds for other trims).

Subaru Crosstrek

The Crosstrek is Subaru's subcompact crossover option. The Crosstrek comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. An available 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. Both engine options are paired with a CVT and all-wheel drive. Like the Outback and Forester, the Crosstrek has a Wilderness trim that is optimized for off-roading. The Crosstrek Wilderness includes a raised suspension, all-terrain tires, and an off-roading-optimized powertrain.

Subaru Solterra

The Solterra is the first fully electric Subaru vehicle. The Solterra comes standard with a fully electric powertrain that produces 215 total horsepower and 249 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard. The Solterra boasts a manufacturer-estimated driving range of 228 miles on a single charge. An eight-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard, while a 12.3-inch touchscreen is available. Available features include a wireless charging pad, heated rear seats, rain-sensing wipers, and a Harmon Kardon premium audio system.

Forester's standard 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive delivers hands-on control as well as a sportier feel, with a Lineartronic 6-speed continuously variable transmission available optionally, should you prefer a ride smooth and efficiently controlled. The auto comes standard in Outback, however, and it's designed manually interactive with overdrive to simulate the thrill of driving stick, flanked by Variable Assisted Steering for near-seamless operation. Subaru Crosstrek, by comparison, keeps the spirit of a manual transmission but adds the extra precision of Outback's Variable Assisted Steering to incorporate a little of the best of both worlds.

And though Forester proffers a more compact wheelbase, at 103.9 inches and comparable to Subaru Crosstrek's 104.9 inches, its 34.8-foot curb-to-curb turning circle has an edge on that of both Subaru Outback, at 36.1, and Crosstrek, at 35.4. That means better maneuverability for Forester in tight spaces. Subaru Outback takes the additional safety and reliable stability tack by comparison to its SUV siblings, offering both a long 108.1-inch wheelbase and NHTSA Front Driver and Front Passenger crash test ratings of five stars and four stars respectively, while Subaru Crosstrek adds a limited slip differential for the apex in traction optimization.

Plus, you can look forward in Forester to a sprawling 108.3 cubic feet of passenger volume, taking a slight lead on Outback's 108.1, even with a comparably cavernous 34.4 cubic feet of cargo volume to the latter's 35.5. And Forester pulls ahead of the more space-efficient Crosstrek, which offers 100.9 cubic feet of passenger volume and 20.8 cubic feet of storage capacity. And for aficionados of the trailerful for the trip, Forester supports a maximum towing capacity of up to 1500 pounds, shared with Crosstrek. Take the step up to Subaru Outback, and you can avail yourself of more than a few extra pieces of road swag, as the SUV accommodates loads of up to 2700 pounds in tow.
