It's a great slogan, but can you live up to the ideal of putting people first in your business dealings? In tough economic times it is always difficult to take your eyes off the cost of doing business.
In the text books used in most business schools you will find pages of theory about cost containment, and the need to be ever mindful of them, lest you slip into red ink. I won't argue that keeping your eyes on expenses makes good sense, but too often businesses forget that customers first concern, isn't your profitability...for the most part they are looking to do business with people who offer value in their transactions and treat them with deference and respect.
I like to think that we approach business this way. To me our job is to serve customers what they came here for and when they leave, they leave happy. It may not be in the business books...but it should be!
I found this story about a young autistic girl, having lunch with her family at a local Chilli's restaurant. IT epitomizes what I believe customer service should be...I have supplied the link...the story says it all!
