Hope, and the Naswa, and the Poker Run!

The news is full of stories that are sad...destructive weather, fires, tough economic news, and tragedy. Of late most of us want to click off the remote and put the bad news out of our minds. We are sometimes convinced by these stories that the world is an awful place, filled with uncaring  people and suffering victims.

On Saturday, July 11, at the NASWA, at Weir's Beach, a story will be written by hundreds of people from all over New England. Each person attending will be there for a very noble purpose. The story might not make the…

The Gavel Passes

Just recently, I have been given the great honor of becoming a member of the Tilton-Northfield Rotary Club. It is a club filled with remarkable people!

The motto of Rotary is "Service Above Self", the club promotes community service, and active participation in community growth and improvement. I have been very fortunate to meet some outstanding people, and share fellowship with some old friends, who by happy coincidence, are also members.

On June 11th, Outgoing President Deb Tessier, passed the Gavel to the incoming President Don "Carpe" Carpenter.

When I inquired about the club, Deb's warm greeting, and invitation…

Alzheimer's Disease

In the last year of my Grandmother's life, she was bedridden, did not speak, and did not recognize her family. It was heartbreaking to visit her, hold her hand, and realize that she didn't recognize us. My grandmother was an exceptional person, she helped my Dad raise us, she was a kind, gentle, soul, whose love was unconditional. More frustrating still, was the lack of information, understanding and hope offered by those who provided care. The treatment then, was to make them as comfortable as possible, and wait for the end.

I felt a deep sorrow for all…

Breakfast with Friends

One Saturday a month, I drive to Boscawen, on my way to work, to enjoy breakfast with friends. The third Saturday of every month is special...it is the monthly breakfast for the Horace Chase Masonic Lodge. This breakfast promotes fellowship, while helping to raise money for the various charities, and causes, supported by the members of the Lodge.

Horace Chase Lodge is deeply involved in the communities of Penacook, Boscawen, and the areas surrounding our Lodge. We support education with scholarship programs, we are involved with the Dare Program, and the annual Gettysburg address program, at the school. We…

Ringing in 2015

2015...and The Year to Come!

As we say farewell to 2014, it is my great pleasure to describe why being a Subaru dealer is such an exciting thing. While there are many fine vehicles in the marketplace...Subaru is unique. We have customers who truly "Love" our car, and they love the values, that Subaru maintains, as a company. The company's Share the Love campaign gives back in a way that is impactful…

The Season Quickly Approaches...

As the season rolls from Fall, into the Holidays, we are reminded that there are many among us, for whom 2014 has been less than kind. We have to look around and see where we think, we can make a difference. This year we would like to shine the light on some local organizations, that work hard to, spread some joy to folks who have been struggling.

Cash N Cans is spearheaded locally by the folks at Mix 94.1. Fred Caruso, Jeff Levitan, and Amy Bates, and their staff,  do a wonderful job of organizing an effort to provide…

The Summer Ends...

As Summer comes to a close, and Fall makes its presence felt, we are physically reminded that something wonderful is happening . The changing color of the leaves is the first hint that 2015 will soon be here.

In New England we are visited by leaf peepers from around the world. They come to see the greatest show on earth...our landscape changes from a rich green to a pallet of colors unrivaled by Renoir, or…

The rumble of the Bikes...

Every year the Lake's Region is host to a great gathering of motorcycles and their riders, for Bike week. It is an event that draws thousands and while it does cause some extra traffic, it is a boon to our local economy. On my way to work this morning I saw a seemingly endless stream of shiny new bikes, and their proud owners. I 93 looked like a giant Harley dealership, or a motorcycle…
