Efficient Performance That Lasts
Drivers from Tilton to Concord want to get behind the wheel of a vehicle that is both fun to drive and good on gas. And every automaker claims to be the most efficient. But when it comes to choosing a vehicle that can handle the winter weather with easy and also delivers impressive fuel economy look no further than Subaru. The Subaru BOXER engine is unique with horizontally opposed pistons. Their side to side punches cancel out each other's vibrations for a smooth driving experience and also put less stress on the engine. Resulting in efficient performance that is built to last.
When seeing where the competition stacks up, they often fall short. No other brand comes standard with all-wheel-drive and when you pay extra for a less capable system on brands like Honda or Toyota, their fuel efficiency decreases drastically. Meanwhile, Subaru vehicles, like the Legacy and Impreza, deliver an impressive 38 highway mpg. Subaru SUVs also lead the way with the Crosstrek and Forester averaging up to 33 highway mpg. The all-new 2019 Forester is the first Subaru to be equipped with Auto Start-Stop technology to maximize each mile per gallon. Even the largest and most powerful Subaru SUV, the Ascent, is more fuel efficient than top competitors like the Toyota Highlander with 27 highway mpg.
The Future Of Subaru Fuel-Efficient Performance
Subaru's commitment to protecting the environment is one of their guiding principles and the future of fuel-efficient Subaru performance looks bright with the all-new Subaru StarDrive technology. Later this year the first plug-in hybrid Crosstrek will arrive with Subaru StarDrive technology. The new plug-in hybrid is the most fuel efficient all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid in America with a jaw-dropping 90 MPGe and a driving range of 480 miles. Needless to say, the bar has been set very high. Subaru StarDrive Electric Vehicle Technology delivers impressive efficiency without sacrificing the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive systems capable performance.
The StarDrive system adds an electric battery to the drivetrain and pulls power from the battery first and will try to drive in all-electric mode as much as possible. When more power is needed the StarDrive system seamlessly switches to gas power while harnessing kinetic energy to recharge the battery. There are three driving modes to StarDrive, all-electric, battery saving, and charging on the go. When battery save mode is engaged the gas engine will provide most of the power while maintaining the same level of power in the battery. Charging on the go for just 30 minutes will help the battery regain 33% of its capacity to keep your adventure going as long as possible.
The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek hybrid is currently the only Subaru vehicle with StarDrive technology and we are excited to see how this electrifying technology will continue to grow to other Subaru models. As previously mentioned, the 2019 Forester is no equipped with Auto Start-Stop technology and it is safe to say that more Subaru vehicles will soon be equipped with the same technology.
