New 2018 Subaru Crosstrek in the Tilton, Concord, NH Area

The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek has new looks, upgraded technology, and that same well-rounded appeal

The Subaru Crosstrek hasn't been a member of the Subaru family for long, but in the short time it's been available to the American market it has won over shoppers. Winning points are its unique shape that sets it apart from other compact crossovers, its increased ground clearance, and, of course, the standard asymmetrical all-wheel drive Subaru owners are expecting.  For its redesign, the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek will retain much of what customers have enjoyed, while sporting an interior that is more premium than its predecessor, sculpted character lines down the side of the body for a sleek look, and advanced convenience and safety technology on the upper trim levels.

We at Belknap Subaru are eager to show off the Crosstrek to customers from Tilton, Concord, Manchester, Laconia, and Plymouth, NH. It's a vehicle that will have your back in all New England seasons, while still looking great.

What's new for the 2018 redesign

Designers made sure all shoppers would feel spoiled with their Crosstrek purchase regardless of if they were buying the 2.0i Base, the 2.0i Premium, or the top-level 2.0i Limited. Standard equipment includes AWD, a rearview camera, and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto ™ smartphone integrations! It's also worth noting that Subaru's STARLINK multimedia system received an appreciated update, making it easier to use. For those unfamiliar with STARLINK, drivers will be able to access the following apps with ease: news, podcasts, iHeartRadio®, Yelp, and more. Also available and new for 2018 is a voice-activated system for TomTom navigation so you'll never get lost on your adventures.

Still the choice for the outdoor enthusiast

It's no secret that we're nearby many ski mountains, the water, and excellent nature trails. If you need a cargo box, bike rack, or ski carrier, you don't have to pay for the roof rails because they come standard on the Subaru Crosstrek. Something else you'll find on the redesigned Crosstrek is more maximum cargo capacity. The previous model offered 51.9 max cubic feet compared to the 55.3 max cubic feet on the 2018 model. And last, though certainly not least, is the new body structure. The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek is now running on the Subaru Global Platform and this new design improves crash energy by 40%- basically, you're better protected if you do get into an accident.

A look at the three Crosstrek trims

The improvements to the Crosstrek's technology, safety, and build are commendable and make it an attractive crossover to test drive. Now, to figure out which one fits your driving needs and lifestyle!

2.0i (Base): we already mentioned some of the standard features on this model, like a rearview camera, roof rails, and smart phone technology. The 2.0i (and all other trims) are powered by a 2.0L SUBARU BOXER engine. If you like manual driving you'll be pleased to know it's traditionally available in a 6-speed transmission, though you can get a CVT automatic option. Torque is 145 lb-ft and the engine produces 152 horsepower. Ground clearance remains the same as previous years at 8.7 inches. The touchscreen size is 6.5 inches and there are plenty of accessory upgrades, like the Rockford Fosgate Audio system, HomeLink product, or a remote engine starter to get your car warmed up or cooled down before you get in. Not bad for a base model at all!

2.0i Premium: It's cold many months out of the year in New Hampshire, so you'll love the all-weather package that includes heated seats. There's also a leather-wrapped steering wheel that doesn't just look nice, but also feels great under your hands on longer drivers. On the 2.0i Premium, STARLINK Security is a standard package. Highlights of the service include Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Recovery, and Remote Services. Though not standard, on this trim there is also the option to add on the EyeSight Driver Assist safety package.

2.0i Limited: this top trim marries premium appointments and safety features. You'll get leather-trimmed seats, 18-inch alloy wheels with a gray finish, and a larger 8-inch touchscreen. There's no manual option, but the CVT engine does have the 7-speed manual mode with paddle shifters if you want a little more control. Vehicle security is stronger too. Not only is there a smart key entry with push button start, but also a PIN-code feature for keyless entry. It's different than older vehicles that had the side-door number pad, but the purpose is still the same in that you can go light and leave your keys in the car. In terms of safety you can still upgrade to the EyeSight package, though there are standard features like Blind-Spot Detection, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, and LED Steering Responsive Headlights.
