Barbara Blinn is one of the many outstanding teachers in the Lake’s Region. She is a teacher for Winnisquam Regional High School. Her classroom in Tilton has one purpose…making sure students graduate. Her reward is seeing those efforts, come to reality, when they complete their studies and receive a diploma. Her classroom is located in the basement of the Methodist Church not far from the school. Mark Johnstone, President of Belknap Subaru, said, “We love working in Tilton; it has its good points and its challenges. When we see a challenge that has good hands working on the problem but needs resources, we have to be involved. Barbara Blinn is the right person and we are happy to help her!” The Adopt-A-Classroom Program, marries local businesses, with schools, and teachers, in an effort to get the supplies, and funds, good teachers need, to be successful.
Scott Ives, General Manager of Belknap Subaru, was introduced to Barbara at a meeting of the Tilton, Northfield Rotary Club, where they are both members. Said Ives, “From the first time I met her and heard her speaking about her work as a teacher, I could hear the passion and commitment…when Subaru introduced us to the Adopt-A-Classroom program, we knew who we wanted to support.” Customers, employees, and friends filled the back of a Subaru Outback with much needed school supplies, and Dale Rollins, BDC Manager for the dealership, and GM Scott Ives, delivered the donated items, along with a cash donation to help Barbara accomplish her mission.
Said Barbara Blinn, “We greatly appreciate the donations and supplies. Our kids will put them to good use!” After a tour of the facility, “her kids” unloaded the Subaru, and returned to their work.
