In 2013, an estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed among US women, as well as an estimated 64,640 additional cases of in situ breast cancer. In that year, approximately 39,620 US women were expected to die from breast cancer. Only lung cancer accounts for more cancer deaths in women.
These numbers are startling and scary...even more so when one of those women is your Mom, sister, daughter, or friend. It is a disease that hits families, it is cruel, and seemingly indiscriminate.
The pink ribbon is a symbol, that we will not quietly accept what is...that we will work for a new, and better reality for those touched by this disease. It is an emblem of our commitment to fighting to find a cure. Please join us in working to make breast cancer a bad memory.
To the women, and families, that are currently fighting, we stand with you, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. In this battle, we know that you need the heart of a warrior, and we honor you and that spirit...and we hope to do our part!
