Time is a very curious thing...it continues on, with, or without, our permission, or cooperation. Seasons change, weather follows, and it happens with either amazing speed, or at an unbearable creep. This summer has been agonizingly long in terms of seeing the people I love...they are far away from me, and the time between visits seems to be forever. Yet...the summer has flown by, we barely opened the camp, and now Labor day is fast upon us.
We are awaiting the birth of my son Christopher's first son. He and his wife are noting the slow tick, tock, of the clock... waiting for their baby. Soon enough however, they will observe how quickly time will fly, from cradle to college, and beyond. My wife and I can testify to this seeming disappearance of years, in what seems to be overnight.
I think of my Gram and Gramps, pictures in my mind, of how I remember them, and then paper pictures...they tell a different story of time. I miss them, and time will hopefully be kind, to my memory of them. But they remind me that time for me will one day stop as well...they also remind me that in a sense we live longer than time...they remind me that one day...at least in a memory we might live again, in a passing smile or a look that once we wore on our own faces.
Sorry to ramble but I had a few minutes and well...
