In days gone by, when we were quite a bit younger, we all have memories of that car...you know the one...standing totally still, it looked like it was doing 140 miles-per-hour.
For me it was the Pontiac GTO and the Bond car, Aston Martin. I had dreams about how it would feel sitting in the cock pit...these were not ordinary cars...they didn't have driver's seats...they had cock pits!
I remember seeing a purple GTO in Manchester that was the hottest thing on wheels. I watched that car with a hunger...well maybe that might be a little over the top...but I wanted one! . I think I somehow knew that an Aston Martin was a long shot at best...but a goat...well sir...that was a possibility. After a very lengthy review of my finances at the time, and times being what they were... it too was a dream...and only a dream
Over the years I had mustangs, import sports mobiles, even a few German cars, but my two dream cars alluded me.
To this day I would give portions of my anatomy to own a DB4, and a fully restored GTO would still rock me...but recently Subaru announced they too were soon to offer a new sportscar...Subaru you say, with a chuckle...laugh not my good friends, the BRZ is all that and then some. It is a real live, rear drive, sportster...it has the sleek and sensual look of an Aston and the guts that make this car a thrill to take on the road. The reviews are in and they are all saying the same thing...home-run!
I might never get to own an Aston and a GTO in the condition I would like, might also be out of my range, but the BRZ is well...down right affordable...this car will debut in the mid twenties and even stuffed up should be under thirty...ya know...sometimes dreams do come true!
